Radio Host Kleyne Says You, Too, Should Be Mad about Dry Eye Disease

Water Life Science® Advocate Kleyne Seeks Dry Eye Solutions

Sharon Kleyne, America's leading water educator, researcher and advocate and the host of the nationally syndicated radio program, The Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water, Global Climate Change and Your Health on Voice America will be honest and tell you that she is really irritated by dry eye disease and dry eye symptoms. "Dry eye disease afflicts more than 250,000 Americans each year," Kleyne said. "400,000 Chinese battle dry eye disease annually. The dry eye industry is costing more than a billion dollars a year. That's outrageous!"

Dry eye disease symptoms include itching, blurring, burning, irritation, eyestrain, headache, and/or a 'grainy' sensation. The ultimate cause of dry eye disease is over-concentration of salt (electrolyte) due to moisture (water) loss in the tear film's aqueous layer. This moisture loss is a result of dehydration caused by evaporation of the tear film's water vapor. When moisture is depleted, electrolyte and other substances become over-concentrated and discomfort results. But when the electrolyte is properly diluted, discomfort vanishes like a husband escaping a mother-in-law who has overstayed her welcome.

Kleyne, founder of Bio-Logic Aqua® Research Water Life Science®, has earned an international reputation as the global expert on dehydration of the eyes and skin due to excessive evaporation of the body's water vapor. Kleyne said that researchers like herself has long known that the simplest and most natural way to soothe dry irritated eyes is to add two-to-five-billionths of a liter of moisture (water) to the aqueous layer. However, a commercially viable method of achieving this was not developed until 2002. In that year, Bio-Logic Aqua® Research Water Life Science® developed a system that emulates the air's natural humidity by applying moisture as an ultra-fine, pH-balanced (<7.0) water mist around the face rather than in the eyes. The mist droplets penetrate the lipid layer like saddle soap penetrates a saddle: The oils part, the droplets pass, and the oil closes. This new hydrotherapy discovery, for the first time, enables individuals to take personal control over dry eyes through a simple and safe daily (or even hourly) moisture supplementation process.

"With Natures Tears® EyeMist®," Kleyne asserted, "tired and irritated eyes are supplemented with all natural, pH-balanced (6.49), Trade Secret tissue culture grade water that is ideal for tear film penetration, and that's what exactly what eyes challenged by dry eye symptoms need. Nature's Tears® EyeMist® supplements the tear lens."

Prior to 2002, the solution to dry irritated eyes was eye drops delivered with an eye dropper, but eye drops have several drawbacks: (1) They are artificial chemical formulations, (2) eye droppers may be difficult to use, unsanitary and even dangerous, (3) eye droppers place far too much liquid into the eye, (4) drops are ineffective for many people, and (5) eye drops lack the pure, titratable (minute dosage) water required by a dehydrated aqueous layer. In fact, eye drops can even make dry eye conditions worse.

The primary benefit of formulated eye drops is trapping and sealing existing tear film moisture to slow moisture loss. Drops accomplish this most effectively when the tear film's moisture content is at full capacity. For best results, though, an ultra-fine water mist should be applied immediately before eye drops because the drops only trap water; they do not re-plenish it via supplementation. A good eye mist may also be applied between eye drop applications, or when eye drops are not convenient or in use at all.

Kleyne stressed that Nature's Tears® EyeMist® is applied with a personal hand-held humidifying device emitting a pure, pH balanced, 100% Trade Secret tissue culture grade water in a patented micron mist. It is the only product of its kind on the international market to supplement water loss of the tear film. Kleyne also said that the product is endorsed by more than 22,000 ophthalmologists and optometrists nationwide and was successfully test-marketed in more than 70,000 outlets.

"I love to educate people around the world about the dangerous consequences of dry eye disease and the growing global water crisis," says Kleyne "and the health dangers associated with dehydration due to excess evaporation of the earth's water vapor. In doing so," Kleyne says, "I remind people to wash their hands and keep their fingers out of their eyes. I also encourage them to create a new, healthy Water Life Science® lifestyle."

Kleyne wants readers, consumers, listeners and other interested parties to visit for more information about this new water technology and water lifestyle. "Get educated," says Kleyne. "Dry eye disease, poor lifestyle choices and lack of education can create numerous problems that could lead to serious eye disease, eye cancer and blindness. As I've said many times," Kleyne concluded, "we should be proactive about our natural health, lifestyle, nutrition and water intake at any age, and our eyes are not an exception."
